Artist to help inspire Wimmera VCE students

Horsham Regional Art Gallery will host a one-day workshop for VCE art students to develop ideas in preparation for the year ahead.

Art teacher Sue Wilson will lead the session, designed to help participants find inspiration and successfully plan their art journey.

Artist and former Horsham student Jud Wimhurst will be a special guest, sharing his personal journey to become an artist post-VCE.

Wimhurst said he saw the value of participating in such an opportunity ahead of term one.

“It sounds like a great program – I would have loved this opportunity when I was doing my VCE many, many moons ago at Horsham High School,” he said.

The gallery has various works on display, including Megan Evans’ UNstable, Walking through the Landscape and In a land without treaty exhibits.

Workshop participants can be guided through these exhibitions to discover artistic practices.

VCE Folio Day is part of the gallery’s arts and education program and is supported by the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s Strategic Partners Program.

The workshop, limited to 15 participants, will run from 10.30am to 2.30pm and costs $10.

People can call 5382 9575 or visit horshamtownhall.com.au to book.
