Grampians Grape Escape cancelled for 2021

Popular Halls Gap food and wine festival Grampians Grape Escape has been cancelled.

Organisers announced the cancellation via email on Tuesday.

Here is the statement:

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of Grampians Grape Escape for 2021.

As we know, GGE was hit hard in 2020 having to cancel so close to the event, and with the uncertainty that surrounds 2021, we have no choice but to make decisions that will ensure the future of the festival, given its importance to our region, the exhibitors, our suppliers and the good times to come.

The events industry is currently in Phase 1 of a 3 phase Public Event Framework set by the State Government of Victoria. Phase 3 is expected to see a gradual return of free-standing events, like Grampians Grape Escape.

It is, however, becoming increasingly difficult to plan for our May event as there are currently no details about what this gradual return will look like, and even then, there is still great risk involved, as many in Victoria have sadly experienced over the weekend.

For months on end, our team has scenario planned, including for the current seated event cap of 1000 people, and besides being financially unviable for us, we can't envisage GGE being a seated event ... it just wouldn't be GGE, right?!

So where to from here?

A not-for-profit festival, Grampians Grape Escape is calling on its supporters to again ‘Stick With Your Tix’ for 2022. Doing this, or donating back your ticket, would mean the absolute world to us!

But of course, we understand that not everyone is in a position to do so, and there will also be a refund option for ticket holders.

For all of you lovelies who have accommodation booked, we encourage you to keep it and then secure it again for 2022. We will be there as there is an abundance of things to do, from bush walks and cellar door visits to farm gates and even a zoo!! Our wineries are also coming together to plan activity for those of you still wanting to get your fill of Grampians Produced Greatness - so stay tuned on that front.

Please know, we are SO VERY THANKFUL for everyone's support and patience; we really wish there was a much different outcome. If you would like to help the festival out, tell all of your friends about us - volunteer for next year - get in contact if you would like to sponsor - follow your favourite wineries’ social pages.... it all counts, and trust us, for richer or for “pourer” - 2022 is going to be as big as it gets!

If you are a current ticket holder, your ticket will be automatically rolled over to 2022 so you do not need to do anything if you would like to Stick With Your Tix. If you prefer a refund, look out for an email from Eventbrite over coming days.
...

We are feeling so incredibly sad for the events industry at the moment, who, day after day, continue to struggle through this and we want to take this opportunity to wish everyone well.

If you can get to an event, big, small, seated or otherwise, please do so, we need to keep this amazing industry alive and be sure to look out for tickets for Grampians Grape Escape 2022 (30th April - 1st May) when they go on sale.
