LETTER: Heartfelt thanks after tornado

SIR, – Following the devastation of my Horsham home in the December tornado, I have been overwhelmed beyond belief by the thoughtfulness and generosity of so many kind people.

The darkness of that horrible night gathered brightness by the quick response of Horsham Rural City Council, SES, fire brigade, police, neighbours and many individuals who readily supported my anxious moments.

My home has been condemned and will soon be completely dismantled.

Churches have provided me with food hampers, neighbours and strangers have supplied boxes, even given shopping vouchers, help from friends and family to empty my house, a drive by lady went and purchased coffee and made a ‘home delivery’.

The list seems endless.

Hopefully in the next 12 months my new home will be under construction using local tradespeople. I owe my community at least that much.

Any doubts that I might have had about the strength of humanity has been erased.

As I now recall the activity of the past month, may the year ahead be one of health, happiness and for me, a new beginning. Please accept this as my overwhelming thank you.
