LETTER: Our new council

SIR, – Congratulations to all those who nominated for Horsham Rural City Council during such turbulent times.

It’s great to have so many people believing in our community.

My sincere appreciation to community members who supported my nomination with their votes, calls and messages. I am humbled by the messages received.

Now it’s time to get to know fellow councillors so we can work as a team that will work closely and form links with our community while respecting each other and representing different views.

We need to ensure that we strive to have the council and community on a journey together to develop the community’s vison for the future.

I plan to be available for regular conversations and will be making myself available once a fortnight for people to drop in for a chat.

I will notify the place and time after our new council settles in.

As my previous community involvement shows, I have a strong passion for building community in all ways.

To do it well and represent all areas of our Horsham community requires a concerted effort by people to also keep in contact with all elected councillors to ensure they are aware of their views.

I encourage everyone to get involved to help us take Horsham forward.

Best wishes to all as we work our way out of COVID-19.

Stay safe and enjoy your time reconnecting with family and friends you have missed.
