SIR, – The Australian government keeps referring to a return to the pre-virus economy. There will not be a pre-virus economy in the future. The Australian government is too lazy to plan for a post-pandemic economy.
We need to be self-sufficient in personal protective equipment for all health workers and allied staff. We need to be self-sufficient in steel production for transport, transport infrastructure and housing. We need to become less reliant on oil imports. These are just a few of the changes needed.
