Murtoa by Twilight market returns

UPDATE: Thursday February 18: "Because of the recent lockdown and ongoing concerns from stall holders, we made the hard decision to cancel our market for February." – Murtoa Events president Michelle Reid.

Organisers of a biannual Murtoa by Twilight event have encouraged Wimmera families to enjoy a night of shopping and entertainment by ‘picturesque Lake Marma’.

Saturday’s festivities will run from 5pm to 9pm and include a market, children’s activities, food vans and live entertainment.

Committee member Emily Farrugia said the event offered a great atmosphere.

“This is our fourth Murtoa by Twilight. We like to have one at the start of summer and one towards the end, to make the most of the opportunity to gather by the lake,” she said.

“It’s designed to be a fun, family-friendly, affordable event.”

Entry is free and people can bring their own chairs and picnic rugs to set up on the lawn area.

“We will have live music between 5pm and 9pm, including Aaron Murray and our local Marmadukes,” Ms Farrugia said.

“The market runs from 5pm to 8pm and we have about 40 stalls. There will also be five or six food vans and free children’s activities, including a jumping castle, face-painting and a giant sandpit.”

Ms Farrugia encouraged people from across the Wimmera-Mallee to attend the event, which offered ‘something for everyone’.

“It’s such a nice atmosphere and we always get a lot of great feedback,” she said.

She said people could call her on 0407 031 297 for more information.

• Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, organisers have asked people to keep an eye on Murtoa by Twilight Facebook page for any changes.
