PHOTOS: 150km Feast to return in 2022 after successful weekend

The success of a 150km Feast event on the banks of the Wimmera River in Horsham last weekend has spurred organisers to immediately start planning for the event’s return next year.

Horsham Agricultural Society’s Andrea Cross said ‘everyone was thrilled to bits’ with how the event unfolded and the society was looking confidently forward to more projects.

“It was just a huge success. Everything came together just as we planned it and we’re absolutely going to do it again,” she said.

“In fact we’re going to have a little pop-up Sunday afternoon feast in our Stockman’s Beer Garden on March 21 as we continue to activate the river precinct at Maydale Reserve.”

More than 300 people, across two nights, soaked up a twilight experience at Maydale Reserve in Horsham Showground while experiencing food and beverages created within a 150-kilometre radius of Horsham. The event attracted an enthusiastic response despite having been postponed by the state’s sudden ‘circuit-breaker’ lockdown last month.

“The feedback has been positively overwhelming and that inspires us to continually look at opportunities,” Mrs Cross said.

“We thank everyone who provided support and have businesses keen to be involved and share in the success and the development of the next event.

“I’m hoping in the future we can ultimately develop the feast into a week-long festival and really turn it into a Wimmera celebration of the agricultural landscape in which we live.”
