Safer, more efficient Ararat link

Ararat Rural City Council expects a $376,000 upgrade to a major highway link in the city’s south will be finished within two weeks.

Council chief executive Tim Harrison said the upgrades to Truscott Street would mean the road would have a hard-wearing surface, making journeys smoother and safer for drivers.

“Located in a built-up area, the existing gravel road fails to address the high traffic load it carries, from motorists, garbage trucks and local industry heavy vehicles,” he said.

“The construction of 540 metres of bitumen will provide a smoother, safer and more efficient journey for motorists.

“Upon completion, residents will have a much smoother road surface with drainage, which will improve the water flow and allow our infrastructure to cope better with floods.”
