Western Waves ‘All-star’ selection for cricketers

Four Wimmera Girls Cricket League players will represent Western Waves in an under-14 ‘all-star’ match at Coughlin Park, Horsham. 

Adele Weidemann and Lucy Avery, Horsham Sixers, Ava Clark, Wimmera Roos, and Lilly Reading, Stawell Strikers, won selection to the representative side based on performances in the Western Victoria Girls Cup and coaches’ feedback. 

The Waves will take on Mallee Murray on March 14. 

Wimmera Mallee Cricket Association’s Jimmy Duxson, Hunter Connolly, Jett Adams and Noah Berry represented the Waves in an under-15 boys ‘all-star’ match at Horsham City Oval on Sunday.

Horsham association’s Connor Weidemann captained the winning side. 

The Waves defeated Murray Mallee, with Weidemann contributing 37 runs towards the side’s 5-263 total. In reply, Mallee Murray made 10-42, with Connolly claiming three wickets, Adams two and Weidemann one.

The all-star series aims to provide further opportunities for talented players and will act as a selection tool for the Waves’ 2021-22 Youth Premier League sides.
