ACE shines at 2019 radio awards

ACE Radio Broadcasters has again performed strongly at annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards, collecting six ACRAs during presentations in Brisbane.

ACE, which operates radio stations across country Victoria and southern NSW, clinched awards in networking, breakfast entertainment, sales, sports presenting, programming and newcomer categories.

Personalities directly involved in radio stations 3WM and MIXX FM and The Weekly Advertiser were among award recipients at the Royal International Convention Centre.

Rural information program Country Today, which features Libby Price and airs weekdays at 6.30am and noon on 3WM and across the ACE network, won Best Network Program in the awards’ Country section.

Ms Price is also a columnist for The Weekly Advertiser’s monthly AgLife feature.

Ms Price is overseas and network owner and chairman Rowly Paterson accepted the award on her behalf.

Also in the country section, Kate Meade, familiar to The Morning Rush listeners on 3WM, won Best Sport Presenter for her work covering the 2018 AFL draft.

Other ACE awards were: Country, Best Breakfast Show, Monkey in the Morning on Coast FM in Warrnambool; Best Sales Team, 3NE-Edge FM in Wangaratta; Best Newcomer Off Air, Leona Chan 2QN-Edge FM in Echuca; and Provincial, Best Program Manager, Ryan Khay TRFM-GOLD 1242 in Gippsland.

ACE chief executive Mark Taylor said the awards again revealed the network’s high standing in the industry. 

“Our network is dedicated to regional Victoria and southern NSW and our success in these awards is based on a dedicated effort to present high-quality radio for our loyal listeners,” he said.

“We have a wonderful team overall and it’s credit not only to the individual winners but the people behind them.

“The fact that we consistently feature in these awards, the pinnacle of the Australian commercial radio industry, is a reflection of the standards we set ourselves.”
