Ararat Garden View Court residents make most of donation

Residents at East Grampians Health Service’s, EGHS, aged-care home Garden View Court are enjoying new lounge chairs thanks to a donation from Friends of Gum San.

Friends of Gum San donated $5280 towards four new lounge chairs at the facility.

President Yvonne Robinson said Friends of Gum San donated to a charity every year and always looked for somewhere they felt they could make a difference.

“Each year we see if we can find a different need,” she said.

Garden View Court recently underwent a refurbishment, with new dining chairs and tables, lounge chairs and carpet throughout, as well as a fresh coat of paint through all common areas and new artwork and sideboards in the facility.

Works are also underway to gradually refurbish residents’ rooms throughout the facility, with each resident’s door being painted a different colour and matched with a ‘memory box’ beside the door that acts as a way-finder helping residents find their way to their rooms.

Garden View Court manager Natalie Wohlers, on behalf of residents and staff, thanked Friends of Gum San for their generous donation.

“This has enabled us to purchase comfortable new chairs for our residents,”  she said.

“Garden View Court is looking amazing with the refurbishment and this new furniture blends beautifully and creates a warm and homely atmosphere in the lounge area for our residents to enjoy.”
