Biennial patchwork exhibition in Hopetoun

Hopetoun Patchwork Group is hosting its biennial exhibition this weekend at Hopetoun Memorial Hall.

The exhibition, on Saturday and Sunday, will also include the Travelling Suitcase Exhibition – the 12 quilts judged to be the best from the Victorian Quilters organisation challenge, which requires members to create a quilt under specific parameters.

Hopetoun Patchwork Group president Karen Fuller said the group was fortunate to secure the statewide exhibition to add to its event this year.

“We welcome everyone to our town to see what an enthusiastic group of people can achieve,” she said.

“Our exhibition includes not only patchwork, but crochet, embroidery and other craft items and you will also be able to see some of the items made for our local aged care facility and other charity organisations.”

There will be two shops and members will have a trading table.

A quilt, beautifully embroidered by hand and crafted by group members and expertly quilted by Helen Leech from Mitiamo, will also be raffled. Tickets are available from members or people can purchase them on the day.

All proceeds from the raffle will go to Hopetoun Historical Society, Hopetoun Powerhouse Arts Studio and Hopetoun Memorial Hall.

“We understand fuel is pretty pricey at the moment so we encourage people to carpool to make the experience more affordable,” Ms Fuller said.

“We look forward to seeing you there.”
