SUPPORTERS: Blue Ribbon Foundation Horsham’s ‘crime night team’ with guests, Inspector Nick Allwood, left, and Senior Sergeant Barry Gray.

Blue Ribbon Crime night affirms purchase

The Blue Ribbon Foundation Horsham raised $14,000 through its annual Inside Story true crime night last week.

The event, at Horsham Church of Christ on Wednesday, attracted a crowd of 350 guests to listen to Inspector Nick Allwood and Senior Sergeant Barry Gray.

The police officers shared a behind-the-scenes look and details of the investigation into two notable crimes – the first involving drug-trafficking while the second story featured a murder case related to two notorious Melbourne-based Middle Eastern crime families.

Money raised on the night will go towards the branch’s next initiative of purchasing equipment for Grampians Health’s Horsham hospital.

Blue Ribbon Foundation Horsham president Paul Margetts said ticket sales – boosted this year by hosting the event at a larger venue – as well as raffles and donations helped contribute to the amount raised.

“We are about to pay for our share of the Sonosite ultrasound we are buying for the hospital in a joint project with Wimmera Health Care Group Foundation and we are ready for a new project to fund,” he said.
