Mr Russell thanked Woolworths and the community for throwing their support behind the foundation, with money raised from the raffle going towards the purchase of a Ranger blood and fluid warming machine for Wimmera Base Hospital’s emergency department.

In other Blue Ribbon Foundation news, Ararat branch members will mark the 165th anniversary of the death of Sergeant John McNally on Saturday.

Sgt McNally, murdered at Mount Ararat in 1856, was the first Victoria Police officer killed in the line of duty.
