Horsham Calisthenics College’s intermediate group won the reserve aggregate in the college’s annual four-day competition last week. 

The Thursday-to-Sunday event attracted competitors from across western Victoria and South Australia, with about 400 entrants from the age of four years taking to the Horsham Town Hall stage across sub-junior, junior, intermediate and senior teams and solo sections.

College principal coach Kylie Hermans said the intermediate group would continue its competition season in Melbourne on Friday.

“It will only be five days between when they competed and when they have to compete again, but they are on a high at the moment, so it’s a good place to be going into the next competition,” she said.

“Overall, Horsham did quite well.”

The college’s youngest students showcased their skills on stage during a display with the competitive sub-junior teams. 

The college also had a junior team and soloists in graceful and calisthenic sections.

Mrs Hermans thanked the college community for executing the event, which is the club’s major fundraiser.

“Di Walter and myself co-ordinated the weekend – it takes months and months to organise, so I want to recognise Di, as well as our volunteers and sponsors,” she said.
