Cindy Millen to speak at Blue Ribbon gala dinner

A former homicide squad detective who now oversees policing in western Victoria will be guest speaker at a Commissioner’s Dinner and Gala Event in Horsham next month.

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner, Western Region, Cindy Millen will address the crowd at the black-tie event at Horsham Golf Club on February 13.

The annual dinner raises money for Blue Ribbon Foundation Horsham branch projects.

Branch secretary Kelly Schilling said the group was delighted to host Ms Millen as guest speaker.

“The assistant commissioner has had an extensive and varied career in Victoria Police and will no doubt have a lot of interesting stories to share,” she said.

Assistant Commissioner Millen’s previous role was as Commander, Crime Command, overseeing serious and organised crime across Victoria.

Prior to that, she was Superintendent of Division 1 North West Metro Region, responsible for the City of Yarra and the City of Melbourne.

The division is largely recognised as one of the most dynamic in Victoria.

Ms Millen has enjoyed several leadership positions within Victoria Police and has also been Chief of Staff to the Chief Commissioner of Police.

She joined Victoria Police in 1989, working in busy inner metropolitan stations while in uniform, including investigative positions at divisional criminal investigation units, homicide squad and divisional tasking units.

The western region represents more than 60 percent of the state’s land mass, providing policing services to almost one-million residents ranging from metropolitan, to regional and remote-rural communities.

Along with Ms Millen’s address, attendees can participate in an exclusive Elders ‘Night Cap’ experience, a ‘Bubbles for Bling’ Skillinvest champagne raffle and an ACE Auction, courtesy of The Weekly Advertiser, MIXX FM, 3WM and auctioneer Rob Dolan.

The evening will also include a three-course meal and live entertainment, comedy hypnotist Andy Vening courtesy of Harvey Norman Horsham.

Tickets for the Commissioner’s Dinner and Gala Event cost $70 with a discounted price on offer for a table of eight to 10.

UPDATE: Tickets to this event have sold out.

The proceeds from this year’s event will go towards a neonatal resuscitator unit for Wimmera Health Care Group.
