Comedy, music, theatre in Ararat

Ararat Rural City Council is encouraging residents and visitors to book ahead for upcoming performances at Ararat Town Hall, including comedy, live music, circus and original theatre.

Ararat-based trio The Runaway Strings will bring a blend of folk, bluegrass, blues and country to the town hall foyer for an intimate concert experience on Thursday, June 4 from 5.30pm to 8.00pm, with a relaxed after-work format including bar service from 5pm and flexible walk-in attendance.

Trash Test Dummies will bring an award-winning circus-

The all-ages 60-minute performance will be on Tuesday, July 7 from 11am to noon.

Writers Jane Clifton and Wayne Macauley will perform readings alongside songs and soundscapes by Sally Ford and The Idiomatics in an electro-acoustic performance titled Underscore.

The show, on Saturday, July 25 from 8pm to 9.10pm, offers a relaxed table seating format and bar from 7.30pm.

The Beggars will present their show California Sunshine on Wednesday, July 29 from 11am to 12.10pm.

A solo performance, Nathan Cavaleri: Growing Pains, will blend live music and storytelling, tracing the artist’s journey through fame, personal struggle and rediscovery on Friday, October 2 from 8pm to 9.15pm.

Chief executive Tim Harrison said the council was proud to support a program that gave the community access to high-quality live entertainment close to home.

“Programs like this make a real difference to regional communities. They give local people more opportunities to come together, enjoy something different and experience the kind of performances you would usually expect to travel for,” he said.

“It also speaks to the excellent work being done by Ararat Live in bringing unique and innovative artists to town.”

Dr Harrison said people could explore Ararat Town Hall’s full program and secure tickets by visiting ararattownhall.com.au.
