Horsham's Mitch Creek will pull on the green and gold of Australia at the FIBA Basketball World Cup after all.
Creek was initially omitted from Australia's world cup team – a move seen as controversial by many media commentators – despite enjoying a breakout year in 2019 during which he debuted in America's National Basketball Association.
Creek was overlooked in favour of several players from Australia's domestic National Basketball League competition, but was granted a reprieve when it emerged swingman Xavier Cooks had injured his knee, opening the door for a replacement.
Basketball Australia announced Creek would replace Cooks in the 12-man team today.

Australia will play warm-up games against Canada in Perth and the United States in Melbourne before flying to China for the world cup, which begins on August 31.
