In reply, Belles opener Bridie Reid matched her counterparts’ aggression, hitting the ball to all parts of the ground, and on two occasions over the boundary, in an undefeated 31.
This set the foundation for Belles to chase down the total and record 141, despite young gun Angie Martin claiming the impressive figures of 3-17 for Strikers.
Host side Diamonds made it two wins from as many games with a strong win over developing Horsham Hurricanes.
Diamonds skipper Heidi Schneider showcased her all-around talents, impacting the scoreboard with both bat and ball as the Diamonds posted a large total when given the option to bat first.
In reply, the Hurricanes’ innings flashed glimmers of promise with good running between the wickets, but ultimately fell short as the Diamonds restricted the Horsham team’s ability to find the boundary.
In the final game of the round, Horsham Sixers put in a spirited team effort but were overcome by a great team effort from Wimmera Roos.
Lucy Avery was the top scorer for the Sixers with an unbeaten 13, but it was not enough to stop a Roos’ innings bookmarked by Ava Clark, 16 not out at the beginning, and Abbey Williams, 17 at the close.
The Roos take on hosting duties on Sunday for round four, with the competition scheduled in Dimboola. Games hit off at 9.30am.
Draw: Murray Downs Diamonds v Wimmera Roos at Dimboola Recreation Reserve, oval one; Horsham Hurricanes v Stawell Strikers, Dimboola Memorial Secondary College; Horsham Sixers v Wimmera Mallee Belles, Dimboola Recreation Reserve, oval two.
