The Anglican Parish of Horsham will celebrate 150 years of Christian witness and ministry in the Wimmera next month, with events including a performance by Australian tenor David Hobson. 

“This is a very special opportunity for me to acknowledge my heritage and help the Wimmera community celebrate 150 years of spirituality,” Hobson said.

Tickets are available from the Horsham Town Hall box office for $40 per person, and concessions are available.

Other activities from October 16 to 18 include entertainment from Wimmera Voices and Karen Dancers, along with wine tasting and supper for $20. 

Horsham historian Ian Ballinger will lead a tour of St John’s stained-glass windows on the Saturday; he was instrumental in the construction of the church’s ceiling and will speak about the windows’ history, design, and whom they were named after. 

The weekend will conclude with Bishop Scott Lowrey, Parish Priest Fr Ian Howarth, parishioners, friends and the wider community celebrating the parish’s past and present role in living and sharing the faith of Christ in everyday life. 

Fr Howarth said the milestone was a wonderful opportunity for parishioners, friends and the wider community to gather, celebrate and honour a long and faithful legacy.
