Food producers road trip awaits

Visiting five Wimmera agribusinesses on Sunday, the 150km Feast Food Producers Tour will be the ultimate road trip for foodies.

Starting at 9.30am at Horsham’s Maydale Reserve, participants will kick off the day with honey tastings from Beetanicals.

The road trip will then head by bus to Dimboola Golf Club Restaurant, with tastings from Dimboola Estate Olive Oil before lunch by one of the region’s most renowned chefs, Cat Clarke.

Event director Andrea Cross said the tour would be an adventure that embraced a complete sensory experience for participants who could taste their way through the region.

“This is the first time a tour of this level has been executed in the Wimmera,” she said.

The tour then takes food explorers to Rupanyup, the home of Rupanyup Living Produce Co food producers Claire and Dave Morgan.

“Farmer Dave might be out on the tractor but Claire will spoil us with a tour of their garden and some sweet treats,” Mrs Cross said.

“We’ll also  tour the beautiful garden that Claire has curated over time, and we’ll get to taste some of her delicious chocolate brownies that she makes from the chickpeas grown on farm.

“Anthony and Amanda from Grampians Vinegar will also showcase their produce in Claire’s patio.”

The final leg of the tour will be a visit to Valooka Farms at Landsborough where fresh eggs can be purchased while admiring their range of livestock.

The tour is part of the 150km Feast series – which includes the successful Dinner Under the Stars, shed market and food and wine festival – with the Smoke on the Water event on June 8.

The Smoke on the Water event, at Maydale Pavilion, offers a day-to-night experience of fire, flavour, and live music.

The family-friendly event also includes treasure-hunts, sandpit play and marshmallow toasting by the camp fires.

People can purchase tickets to the food producers tour for $88, which includes lunch and tastings, at trybooking.com/events/landing/1381936
