Golf clubs forced to close | COVID-19

I would like to advise that following consultation between Golf Australia and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services golf has been classified a prohibited activity at recreational facilities under the Victorian Government Stage 2 restrictions of activities that are aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-19. This interpretation was made on Friday 27 March 2020 and the effect of this being that golf courses should be closed until at least 13 April 2020. Consequently the Horsham Golf Club course and surrounds is closed until further notice.

In the meantime, the board will continue planning the implementation of the revised strategic plan that will enable us to be successful well into the future.

We are sorry for not being able to provide golf for our members and the wider community but we need to ensure that we are in step with the rest of society in minimising the spread of COVID-19. We hope that this closure will not be for an extended period but it is important that we adhere to all of the regulators advice including general hygiene, social distancing and minimising the need to travel unless it is essential.

Golf Australia directive

“27/3 - It is GA’s recommendation that, based on the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services directive issued as part of the Victorian Government’s Stage 2 restrictions regarding COVID-19, all golf clubs and facilities should close as soon as practicable until April 13, 2020.”
