FARM BACKING: Willaura Hospital Auxiliary members, from left, Anna Gray, Ruth Gellert and Hannah Jenkinson are calling on farming families to support a grain drive to raise money for for Willaura Health Care.

Grain drive for Willaura hospital

Willaura Hospital Auxiliary will run a grain drive this harvest to raise money for Willaura Health Care, incorporating Willaura Hospital and Parkland House Hostel.

The auxiliary’s major fundraiser is usually Willaura Market, but this event was unable to go ahead in 2021 because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Farming families now have an opportunity to support the hospital by contributing to a grain drive instead.

Grain drive co-ordinator Ruth Gellert said auxiliary members were grateful to people prepared to help with the project.

“Willaura Hospital and Parkland House Hostel provide a safe and caring environment in a small, friendly, rural setting,” she said.

“This is highly valued, not only by those who live and work there, but also by those whose family and friends benefit from its services.

“It’s important that we do our best as a community to support it.”

Mrs Gellert said auxiliary members were looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2022 Willaura Market on Sunday, March 6, but until then, thanked district farmers for sharing some of this season’s bounty.

Farmers can allocate a little of their load to the auxiliary’s NGR card, 13993275, when they unload at receival sites.

GrainCorp is using warehousing with a Willaura Hospital account, while CHS Broadbent will offer daily cash prices.

People seeking further information can call Mrs Gellert on 0428 541 205.
