Halls Gap businesses close out of COVID-19 caution

Halls Gap businesses have taken the precautionary step to close after a visitor to the tourist town over the weekend later tested positive to COVID-19.

Some businesses in the popular holiday destination are awaiting official notification from DHHS and closed their doors as a precautionary measure.

The move is in response to a belief the person was travelling lawfully from a part of regional Victoria with no known exposures, had checked in everywhere they visited and wore a mask properly.

Popular venues including Paper Scissors Rock Brew Co, Livefast Cafe, Grampians Helicopters, Flame Brothers and the Halls Gap Post Office will be closed today and tomorrow.

The businesses announced the closures earlier today while they waited for official information and to allow staff to get tested and return results.

If people who think they may need to get tested call Stawell Regional Health Hospital, 27 Sloan Street, Stawell, on 5358 8630 or your nearest testing facility.

Drive through testing is available with no appointments needed in Stawell from 10am to 2pm daily.
