A west Wimmera man has turned to a popular reality-television dating program to aid his search for love.

Harrow’s Jack Beaton is among a crop of six rural men ‘looking for a soulmate’ through the latest series of The Farmer Wants A Wife. 

Nine Network ran the program, billed as Australia’s ‘most authentic and successful dating show’, from 2007 to 2016 .

News that Seven Network had picked up the show for a 2020 season was met with delight by fans on social media.

Wimmera viewers will have an added incentive to tune in next year, as the show follows the ‘journey’ of one of their own. 

Filming is set to take place between January and March and will include footage from the Beaton family’s merino wool farm.

Mr Beaton, 27, describes himself as adventurous, empathetic and loyal and his interests include the outdoors, travelling, exercise and debating. 

He is looking for ‘an empathetic and kind-hearted soul who has the same passion to learn, discover and travel as I do’. 

In a promotional video for the show, Mr Beaton said it was difficult to meet women in his part of the world. 

“There’s not a whole lot of ladies kicking around, it’s just a lot of us young boys, so it’s slim pickings in my little pocket of the world, that’s for sure,” he said.

Mr Beaton said he was ready to find a wife.

“I know I’m a good person and I know I’ve got a lot to offer, and I know I will be great with kids,” he said.

He said being in love was a feeling unlike anything else. 

“I hate to think I’d have to live the rest of my life without that feeling again,” he said. Along with farm work and filming, Mr Beaton plans to pull on the boots for Harrow-Balmoral Football Netball Club in 2020.

The 195cm utility, who played junior football with the Southern Roos, has also played for Stawell Warriors in Wimmera Football League.
