Horsham Rotary clubs say no to family violence

Horsham East and Horsham Rotary clubs have been busy visiting Horsham district businesses to promote a community message to stamp out family violence.

Project co-ordinator Steve Holmes is pictured with cards and information for businesses to display and hand out as part of the #sayNo2-familyviolence project.

Mr Holmes said statistics showed per capita, Horsham municipality rated among the highest for police call-outs to family-violence incidents in the state.

“We started the project, inspired by Maryborough Rotarians in 2014, in Horsham in 2017,” he said.

“We’re working with police and government agencies to spread the anti-violence message. The impacts from family violence can last a lifetime. Family violence is unacceptable and apart from the pain and suffering it causes, also costs taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. We need to beat it.”
