Her performance on Saturday was her first as a solo competitor at Australian Schoolaerobics National Championships, and the first national gold medal result for coach Amanda Wik since 2011.
Jaya said that, at first, she couldhardly believe the result.
“It was just amazing,” she said.
“I just want to say thank you to Amanda for being the best coach ever.”
Jaya performed her best routine on the day to win singles gold with a score of 76.
Her coach Amanda Wik said Jaya was excited and a little nervous before the routine but was ready to get out there and ‘smash it’.
"Jaya has been training four times a week since February this year and also massive support from her family, she has achieved her goal of competing and winning at national level," she said.
“Jaya is an absolute dream to coach and she has helped me in many ways over the last eight months get through some very tough times.”
Jaya also read the Schoolaerobics pledge at the opening ceremony.
"It was an extremely long and tiring day with an absolutely awesome result," Wik said.
"We will have a short well earned break in training then prepare for the last competition of the year, Spring Challenge in October."
Ararat’s Holly Allgood also added to the Wimmera’s sporting success story at the weekend, walking away with two national gold medals in Schoolaerobics’ sibling DanceStar and Glee competitions.
