Minister to open Nhill skatepark..... in Dimboola

State Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events Martin Pakula will be in the Hindmarsh Shire this morning to open two projects.

The Minister will open the Dimboola Football Netball Club's new netball change rooms and the Nhill Skate Park.

Mr Pakula will not travel to Nhill to open the new skate park.

Member for Lowan Emma Kealy said is was dissapointing for Nhill that the minister couldn't make the time to get to Nhill.

“The Nhill community is rightly disappointed that the Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events won’t add an extra hour to his day today to open the Nhill Skate Park on site, opting instead for the absurd situation of him opening the Nhill Skate Park from Dimboola,” Ms Kealy said.

“I know there are members of the Nhill community who would have loved the opportunity to show the Minister the grandstand and need for refurbishment of the clubrooms at Davis Park.

“It seems like a bit of a snub for the Minister to be so close but not make that little bit of extra effort to go to Nhill to meet with locals and talk about local issues.

Ms Kealy  congratulated the Nhill and Dimboola communities and Hindmarsh Shire Council on their strong advocacy to secure funding for a new Nhill Skate Park and new female change rooms at the Dimboola Recreation Reserve.

"It has been a fantastic effort by these two communities to secure this funding and enable these much needed facilities to be provided for local residents."
