New-look fundraising trio smash goal

Three West Wimmera Health Service employees have made a bald statement, raising $8748.50 by shaving their head or facial hair for a good cause.

Iona association nurse unit manager Kirsten Nesbit, social worker Jay Sreekumar and chief executive Ritchie Dodds participated in the ‘See How We Can Help You See’ campaign.

Mr Sreekumar said the trio well and truly exceeded its $3000 goal.

“We cannot thank our generous community enough for their support and donations,” he said.

The health service launched the campaign in June 2020 to raise money for a new piece of eye-measuring equipment.

Mr Dodds said the health service set an ‘ambitious’ goal to secure an IOL Master 700, an optical biometer, worth $70,000.

He said with help from the community, the health service had raised $53,306.50 for the life-changing piece of equipment.

“This new look has certainly saved me time in the morning,” he said.

“It is not too late to get involved, we value every contribution.”

Ms Nesbit said people could view all three shave videos on the West Wimmera Health Service Facebook page.

“This shave is not just about me, it is about all of you,” she said.

“It is about our friends, family and our community.”
