PHOTOS: Harrow-Balmoral win back-to-back flags

By Colin MacGillivray

Harrow-Balmoral claimed back-to-back premierships for the first time in its history by running away in the second half to defeat Noradjuha-Quantong by 91 points at Horsham City Oval.

The Roos capped an undefeated season by blitzing the Bombers with a nine-goals-to-none third quarter after a tight first half, kicking away to win 20.16 (136) to 6.9 (45).

The margin was only 14 points at the long break, but warm conditions and a long finals campaign took their toll on Noradjuha-Quantong, who were not able to match the Roos’ run in the third and fourth quarters.

Onballer Eric Guthrie was named best on ground after a starring performance and had plenty of support from the likes of brothers Michael and Simon Close in front of goals, Will Plush in the midfield and Cody Deutscher playing as a high half forward.

For the Bombers, veteran Jason Kerr was a clear standout.

Harrow-Balmoral coach Nick Pekin said he was delighted to capture back-to-back flags in the seniors, while the club also celebrated premierships in the reserves against Natimuk United, 15.8 (98) to 5.11 (41), and the under-17s against Laharum, 11.10 (76) to 3.7 (25).

The under-14s premiership was won by Swifts against Taylors Lake, 9.8 (62) to 4.6 (30).
