MARATHON SUPPORT: Hundreds of athletes gathered at Hosham’s Sawyer Park on Sunday for the 2026 Horsham Running Festival on Sunday.

The day included a marathon, half marathon and quarter marathon for runners, a quarter marathon for walkers and a five kilometre event for runners and walkers, as well as a popular untimed two kilometre kids’ dash for participants aged 12 and under.

Winner of the marathon, Kaniva’s David Staehr, finished in 2:47:14.

School Sport Victoria’s Black Ranges secondary schools athletics competition was run in Stawell last week. Winners of events progress to the Greater Western region carnival, where they will be challenging for a spot at state competition.Pictures: PAUL CARRACHER
