Poultry show returns

Wimmera Poultry Show returns on Saturday with organisers hoping to see more than 500 birds ready for judging at Horsham Showground.

Wimmera Poultry Club has not been able to host an open show in two years and members are excited to be back showcasing the best birds of the Wimmera and surrounding areas.

Club president Brendon Lloyd said he was hoping to see the shed filled with birds for the show.

“To fill the shed we would need more than 500 birds and if we got that it would be great to see,” he said.

“It’s very exciting that we have $1500 in prizes for this year’s show, with trophies, feed, cash and sashes.

“Importantly, the champion duckwing will receive a painting, donated by KES Game Fowl.

“Our other sponsors include Laucke Mills; Driscoll, McIllree and Dickinson; and Dean Wheaton.”

The open show includes junior and senior categories with morning tea and lunch available during the day.
