Radio and newspaper recognition at awards for Clark, Carracher

The Weekly Advertiser and radio stations 3WM and MIXX FM and their staff have again performed strongly in major national and state media awards.

Radio announcer and journalist Emma Clark and The Weekly Advertiser photographer and digital-content manager Paul Carracher, both of Horsham, were among individual winners.

Mrs Clark joined elite company to win an Australian Commercial Radio Award, clinching a Best News Presenter Country and Provincial category.

It was her first solo ACRA after being a nominated finalist many times in the national accolades.

Radio 3WM’s breakfast show The Morning Rush, featuring Sean Cullen and Kate Meade, also won best networked program.

Horsham content director Adam Roche, radio traffic co-ordinator Danica Turvey and account manager Michelle Reid were also finalists.

ACE network stations and staff members across Victoria and southern NSW also featured prominently.

Mr Carracher won two primary photographic sections on offer in Victorian Country Press Association awards.

He won a Best Sports Photo Award with a dramatic netball action shot and Best Photo Study Award involving a croquet image, both in a prestigious 6000-plus circulation section.

The Weekly Advertiser team overall, including writers, lay-out specialist, graphic designers and account managers as well as photographers, also enjoyed significant success in winning a Best Magazine Award for its 2020 LifeStyle Wimmera publication.

ACE Radio Broadcasters Horsham general manager Brendan O’Loughlin said the recognition was just reward for outstanding efforts by all Horsham staff.

“We enjoy a unique situation in being able to offer multi-media products and to enjoy this type of industry recognition is a feather in everyone’s cap,” he said.

“These are national and state awards and it shows that we can more than match it with some of the country’s heavy-hitters in the media industry.”

The Weekly Advertiser editor Dean Lawson added the awards reflected the dedication of staff members.

“High-quality work doesn’t happen by accident and we’re blessed in having such a dedicated crew of professionals,” he said.
