Social space at St Arnaud named after former Northern Grampians mayor Tony Driscoll

Northern Grampians Shire Council will pay tribute to late mayor Tony Driscoll by naming the Social Space at Lord Nelson Park, St Arnaud, in his honour.
Cr Driscoll died in July 2022, during the current council term, following a battle with illness.
Northern Grampians mayor Rob Haswell said the current councillors were particularly mindful of commemorating Cr Driscoll’s legacy before the end of their four-year term.
“The decision to name the Social Space in his honour reflects the deep admiration and respect the council and community hold for the late mayor, who dedicated many years of his life to public service,” he said.
Cr Driscoll served on the council, representing Kara Kara ward, from October 2012 until his death. His almost decade-long service included two terms as mayor, in  2016-17 and 2017-18.
“Tony was a beloved leader known for his unwavering commitment to the residents of Northern Grampians Shire,” Cr Haswell said.
“His legacy is marked by numerous initiatives and projects that have shaped the community. Naming the Social Space at Lord Nelson Park in his honour is a fitting tribute to a man who devoted his life to serving others.”
Cr Haswell said since its construction in 2023, the Social Space at Lord Nelson Park had provided a place for community gatherings and social interactions, making it a perfect location to commemorate a leader who was deeply connected to the people he served.
