Stawell Agricultural Society will present a craft and cookery competition and display later this year in lieu of the absence of a 2021 Stawell Show.

The society has organised the event at the Frank Floyd Pavilion at Stawell Showground for October 23.

The society’s Lois Trimble said schedules and further details about the craft and cookery day would be available on Facebook or in hard-copy versions at Stawell Library, Stawell Craft Shop or Chris and Di’s Bakery in Stawell.

“We’re still finalising details but they should all be available in the next couple of weeks,” she said.

“One of the artist sections will be to design a cover for our schedule for the 60th show planned for next year.”

Mrs Trimble said there had been some success in a society call for more volunteers to help organise next year’s show. “We’ve had a handful of ladies came forward to provide some very welcome and much-needed support and that has provided us with confidence about the future. We still, however, need some muscle,” she said.

An increasing age of committee members, a lack of key administrators and dwindling numbers of volunteers had forced organisers to abandon plans for this year’s October show.
