Twice-weekly COVID-19 rapid antigen testing requirements are changing in education settings to reduce pressure on staff and students.
A Department of Education and Training spokesperson said with COVID and other emerging winter illnesses circulating in the community there were some challenges with school staffing. Starting Monday this week, it was recommended rapid antigen tests be used by students and staff only when symptomatic.
“RATs are also required to be used for five days if a student or staff member is a close contact of a confirmed case and they are attending or working at a school,” the spokesperson said.
“Schools will continue to be provided with the same weekly quantity of RATs.”
