Horsham leaders welcomed a large and diverse group of new Australian citizens at a ceremony last week.
One of Horsham Rural City Council’s largest ever citizenship ceremonies formally recognised the nationalisation of 27 people from origins including the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, India, Myanmar, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Horsham mayor Robyn Gulline said it was ‘terrific’ to see council’s civic centre filled with so many happy people.
“We are delighted that they have chosen to make their permanent home in our region – it is truly a great place to live, especially for families,” she said.
“Every new citizen has something special to share and, as a result, our communities and workplaces become stronger because of the culture, knowledge, skills and stories they bring to our region.”
