Roos unbeaten in girls cricket

After four rounds, Wimmera Roos remain the only undefeated team in Wimmera Girls Cricket as they attempt to claim their third successive championship.

In a display of trademark depth, the Roos, 2-141, accounted for Murray Downs Diamonds, 6-101, at Dimboola Recreation Reserve.

Abbey Williams, 27 not out, and Isobelle Schorback, 25 not out, were the standout performers for the home team.

For the Diamonds, Heidi Schneider top-scored with an unbeaten 23.

In other games, Horsham Sixers put in their best effort of the season with the bat off the back of Sophie Quick, 21 not out. But the Sixers fell 32 runs short as the well-drilled Belles recorded 110 for the loss of only one wicket.

Stawell Strikers defeated Horsham Hurricanes to move into second place on the ladder. The Strikers weathered a hard-hitting unbeaten 20 from Hurricanes opener Adele Weidemann.

When the Stawell team’s turn came with bat in hand, it was a commanding partnership between Moloney sisters Chloe, 14 not out, and Ella, 17, that wrestled control of the match.

Round-five games will be at Stawell in what is set to be a high-quality suite of matches before the competition heads into a mid-season break.

Results: Stawell Strikers 4-133 d Horsham Hurricanes 8-89, Wimmera Roos 2-141 d Murray Downs Diamonds 6-101, Wimmera Mallee Belles 1-110 d Horsham Sixers 4-78.
