Wimmera records new cases | COVID-19

The Wimmera has recorded its first official cases of COVID-19 after months of negative test results.

Latest details released from the Department of Health and Human Services show Horsham has recorded two new active cases since yesterday.

Horsham had previously had only recorded three cases since the pandemic started earlier this year.

Figures for all other Wimmera municipalities remain unchanged with no active cases and  Hindmarsh and Buloke shires still yet to officially record a case.

Wimmera Health Care Group has advised people to follow all recommended guidelines and avoid travelling to Melbourne or the Mitchell Shire unless absolutely necessary.

Take the time to ask yourself ‘is what I’m doing, completely necessary and if so have I taken every precaution?’

The health group is preparing new advice on visitor restrictions at Wimmera Base Hospital and Horsham Reid Street and Dimboola medical centres and new face-mask protocols.

No one will be able to visit the hospital except for a support person for a pregnant woman, a carer of a person with a disability, a parent or carer of a child patient under 18 or for compassionate reasons and emergency situations.

People eligible to enter must wear a mask, which medical staff will provide after assessing the person’s eligibility and checking their temperatures.

Please remember:
Maintain social distancing of 1.5 metres at all times.
Wash or sanitise your hands thoroughly, before and after public contact.
Stay home if you feel unwell.

If you have any COVID symptoms contact the clinic for assessment by phoning 5362 3474 between 10am and 5pm any day.
